FAQs

  • Your osteopath first will take a full case history, which includes questions about your previous medical history, accidents, operations, any current health condition, and medication. Next, we will examine the mobility of your spine and assess painful areas, joint mobility, and your posture. After that, we will be able to state a working diagnosis and find any factors contributing to your current complaint. Sometimes examination may include specific systemic health tests e.g. neurological examination, blood pressure, and/ or oxygen level readings. Further on if we decide that osteopathic therapy is appropriate for you, we will inform you about our treatment plan and start the treatment

  • Your baby’s first osteopathy appointment is designed to be thorough, gentle, and completely tailored to their unique needs. Here’s what you can expect:

    1. Comprehensive Health History
The session begins with a detailed discussion about your baby’s health, including pregnancy and birth experience, medical history, feeding and sleeping patterns, and any specific concerns you may have.

    2. Gentle Assessment
The osteopath will carefully assess your baby’s reflexes, posture, movement, and areas of tension using gentle palpation techniques. This step helps identify any imbalances or restrictions that may be affecting their comfort or development.

    3. Tailored Treatment
If treatment is appropriate during the first session, the osteopath will use gentle hands-on techniques designed specifically for babies. These may include light pressure, stretching, or cranial osteopathic methods to relieve tension and support your baby’s natural balance and function.

    4. Parental Guidance
The osteopath will explain their findings and treatment plan clearly, providing advice on how you can support your baby’s well-being at home.

      5. Calm and Relaxing Environment
We ensure a soothing, baby-friendly atmosphere where you can feel comfortable feeding, changing, or soothing your baby at any time during the session.

    Session Duration
The first appointment typically lasts 45–60 minutes to allow enough time for a thorough assessment and discussion.

  • Absolutely! We understand the unique needs of twins and aim to make the process as convenient as possible for parents.

    To streamline the appointment:

    • Pre-Appointment Call: We`re happy to schedule a 20–30-minute call before your visit to take the twins’ case history. This allows us to focus more on examination and treatment during the in-person session.

    • Optimised Appointment Length: The face-to-face appointment will be approximately 90 minutes, instead of the standard 120 minutes, as the history-taking is completed in advance.

This approach ensures that both children receive thorough, individualised care while saving you time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss your twins’ needs or book their appointment!

  • To ensure your baby’s osteopathy appointment is as smooth and stress-free as possible, here are some helpful tips:

    1. Timing:
Choose a time when your baby is typically calm and well-rested, avoiding nap or feeding times if possible. A content baby is easier to assess and treat.

    2. Feeding:
Feed your baby shortly before the appointment, but leave enough time to avoid discomfort from a full tummy. If they need feeding during the session, that’s perfectly fine.

    3. Clothing:
Dress your baby in comfortable, easy-to-remove clothing. This makes it easier for the osteopath to assess their posture and movement.

    4. Favorite Items:
Bring along any comforting items, like a pacifier, blanket, or toy, to help soothe your baby during the session if needed.

    5. Bring Essentials:
Pack your baby bag with diapers, wipes, and anything else you might need during the appointment.

    6. Be Relaxed:
Babies can pick up on their parents' emotions, so staying calm and relaxed will help your baby feel at ease too.

    7. Ask Questions:
If you have any specific concerns or questions, jot them down beforehand so you can discuss them during the session.

Remember, the clinic is baby-friendly, and we’re here to make the experience as comfortable as possible for both you and your little one. If you have any specific concerns about the appointment, feel free to reach out before your visit!

  • Depending on the injured area, you may be required to get undressed during the appointment. Therefore, you may feel more comfortable in appropriate underwear (please, no thongs). Alternatively, you may prefer to wear e.g. shorts or leggings.

  • While the clinic is located on the first floor and there is unfortunately no lift in the building, we aim to make your visit as convenient as possible.

    • Ground Floor Storage: There is a safe space on the ground floor where you can securely leave your buggy during your appointment.

    • Assistance Available: If you prefer to bring your buggy upstairs, we are more than happy to assist you in carrying it.

Your comfort and ease are our priorities—please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can help!

  • We are situated on the first floor, so please keep in mind that there will be 1 flight of stairs to climb with of course a fitted handrail for your support and safety. There is unfortunately no disabled access and/or a lift.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • We will always do our best to make you feel as comfortable as it is only possible, so it is absolutely okay for you to attend your appointment with a family member and/ or a friend, however, due to the size of the room, I would advise not to be accompanied by more than one person.

  • The follow-up osteopathy sessions last around 45 minutes, which would include around 30-40 minutes of the treatment itself during the follow-up appointment.

  • Please give at least 48 hours notice for a cancellation so we can offer the slot to someone else. No-shows and cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged a full appointment fee to cover our costs. Cancellations made between 24-48 hours will be charged 50% appointment fee.
